Jodhpur

The Blue City · Mehrangarh, desert light and indigo lanes

Jodhpur grew around Mehrangarh Fort, raised in 1459 on a 120-metre cliff at the edge of the Thar. The indigo-washed houses of the old town below were originally Brahmin homes; today the whole blue maze is best seen from the fort ramparts at sunrise.
